Here is what I know.

Randall Street bridge weight restrictions
The weight restrictions are being put in place to protect public safety and reduce wear on a bridge that is showing its age. This is a practical step to help the bridge last longer while we work through the longer term repair and replacement plan. Keeping appropriate restrictions in place also helps protect our ability to pursue state and federal funding when replacement is needed. Bridge replacements are typically multi million dollar projects. For example, the Grove Street and Main Street bridge projects are each expected to be in excess of $3 million.

I also want to be clear about truck traffic. My goal is that Randall not become a regular cut through for heavy trucks traveling between 48th and 64th. Much of Randall is residential, and we need to balance business access with neighborhood safety, noise, and road and bridge impacts.

Bridge project timeline

  • Grove Street bridge: Construction companies are expected to bid this summer or fall 2026, with construction planned for 2027.
  • Main Street bridge: The plan is for a rebuild in 2028. That is a major project, and as we get closer there will be more details shared about schedule, detours, and access.

Odor reports, Fairlife and Continental Dairy
We are continuing to raise odor concerns with the facilities. If you smell something, please report it to the City. Specific details really matter and help narrow down the likely source.

When you report, please include:

  • Date and approximate time
  • Where you were located (nearest address or cross streets)
  • What the odor smelled like (for example, sour milk)
  • How long it lasted, and whether it was ongoing or in bursts

For what it is worth, the odor I notice most often is sour milk, and I have been sending notices to City Hall on a regular basis.

Thanks to everyone who shared observations in a previous post. The more specific the reports, the more actionable this becomes.
