Weise Updates newsletter privacy notice
How Weise Updates handles newsletter subscriptions. This is an independent councilmember publication, not an official City of Coopersville service.
Last reviewed October 31, 2026
What information we collect
When you voluntarily subscribe, the form asks for your email address and your agreement to receive the newsletter. Brevo, our newsletter provider, records the signup request, confirmation status, and information needed to manage deliveries and unsubscribes. Cloudflare Turnstile is used on the form to help prevent automated submissions. These providers may process technical information for operation and security.
How we use it
We use your address to send occasional Weise Updates emails, typically with most of the council-related article included. You may also receive a confirmation email when signing up. The newsletter is not an official City notification system. We do not import earlier contact sheets or prior signup responses into this list without verifying appropriate consent, and we do not sell the subscriber list or use it for unrelated advertising.
How to subscribe or unsubscribe
Subscriptions require your permission and an email confirmation link. Brevo may record your signup request before you complete confirmation, but we will not send you newsletter editions unless you confirm your email address. Every newsletter will provide an unsubscribe link, handled by Brevo. You can stop future newsletters using that link; Brevo may retain limited subscription, suppression, security, and delivery records when necessary for operation or compliance.
Where information is stored
Brevo provides and manages the newsletter service and its subscriber records, including information needed to send messages, handle bounced emails, and honor unsubscribe requests. The Weise Updates website is hosted using Cloudflare. Its source code is maintained in a private GitHub repository, but subscriber email addresses and signup records will not be placed in that repository.
Newsletter delivery and engagement information
Brevo records information needed to deliver emails, manage subscriptions, process bounced messages, and honor unsubscribe requests. Anonymous open-and-click tracking is enabled for Weise Updates newsletter campaigns and separately for transactional emails. Brevo can still report overall opens and clicks, but these future engagement events are not linked to individual contacts in campaign or transactional tracking reports. This does not anonymize email addresses, signup and confirmation records, delivery status, or earlier tracking activity.
Unsubscribe and questions about your information
Every newsletter will include Brevo's unsubscribe link. If you want to ask about a subscription or request that your contact information be corrected or deleted where possible, email Pweise@cityofcoopersville.com. Requests may need to be coordinated with Brevo because it manages the mailing list and may retain limited suppression or compliance records after unsubscribing.
This is an official City Council email inbox. Correspondence sent there may be retained and may be subject to applicable public-records disclosure requirements. Please do not send confidential personal information by email. The newsletter itself is independently published and is not a City of Coopersville communication system.
